Ryan Hackworth is a 2019 RHP/OF with a 5-11 210 lb. frame from Fort Wayne, IN who attends Leo Junior/Senior. Medium frame with a solid build and strong lower half. Ran a 7.45 sixty yard dash. Primary right handed pitcher, works exclusively from the stretch. Creates a slight pauses at balance and gather well. Stays tall on backside and utilizes lower half well while driving to the plate. Tends to stride towards arm side landing at a slightly close position on front side. Keeps from side in well and carries momentum to the plate while working to the plate. Releases from an extended three-quarters arm slot. Baseball has good life with heavy actions when crossing the zone. Fastball has solid into right handed hitters when starting at the middle of the plate, topped at 78 mph. Curveball has 9/4 shape with sweeping action and some depth. Maintains arm speed throughout delivery with curveball offering. Also maintained arm speed on a changeup in the lower 70's that showed good rotation and fading actions. Commanded the zone well with all three pitches producing weak contact. Also worked out defensively from the outfield showing clean glove actions while funneling baseball with developing fluidity. Flashed solid arm strength with a compact arm action topping at 78 mph. Throws produced some on line carry to the bag with accuracy. Right handed hitter with a upright, straight stance and high back elbow set. Front foot starts at a slightly inverted position. Launches to contact with linear lower half actions generating some shift. Flashed some smoothness with barrel on a line drive swing plane. Primarily showed a mid-field to opposite field approach. Produces good bat speed while consistently squaring up baseball throughout batting practice. Strength and pop off barrel will continue to develop with continued physical development. Good student as well.
