Andy Friery is a 2008 1B/P/3B with a 6'1'', 205 lb. frame from Fullerton, California, who is home schooled. Friery has a good frame with solid upper body strength. Defensively he has a long arm action on his throws from the outfield at 67 mph. He needs to get on top of the ball to have more velocity and carry. At the plate he is a right handed hitter who hits from a narrow base. He takes an aggressive stride looking to attack the ball and hit it hard. He gets leverage at the point of contact that should allow him to hit for power in the future. He has strength in his swing, and he can handle the inside pitch. He has a tendency to drift, but he has good plate discipline and doesn't chase bad pitches. He has upside at the plate.
