Logan Williams is a 2007 right hand hitting infielder/pitcher from South Side Bee Branch HS, residing in Damascus, AR. He was listed as a shortstop with secondary listings of 3B/P. Williams has a compact and athletic build on a strong 6'0" 190 lb. frame. He is a tough player and enjoys being on the field. At the plate he showed that he is going to hit a bit in college. He started with a slightly closed stance and then opened his hips early as the pitch arrived. His approach looks like it is to the pull side but he actually hit from gap to gap. It could be that he simply clears his hips to free his hands rather than looking to pull. In any case, he has good bat speed and strong hands. Williams made good barrel contact and should hit a lot of doubles in his future. He starts with high hands and creates some momentum and rhythm in his swing. In the field he played 2nd base very well. His range was good to both sides and he got very nice jumps on the ball. Williams has a strong arm and showed that he can make strong, accurate throws from different angles. His hands work well in the infield. For the college game he is a playable shortstop, though his range is limited. His instincts and jumps do make up for some lack of footspeed. On the mound Williams competed well. He pitches from a 3/4 slot with a typical short, infielder type arm action and athletic delivery. His fastball was 87-88 with good life and he pitched aggressively up in the zone with it... whether that was by purpose or accident is debatable. Williams has a slow 63-66 mph curveball and showed a slider too. His feel of a 75-76 mph change-up was good and overall Williams did a nice job of mixing pitches and changing speeds, showing an understanding of how to pitch. He ran 4.64 home/1st with a 7.54 60 yard time. At this point he is a D1 college player that will likely perform at the college level and ultimately earn a pro opportunity as a utility type player.

Logan Williams is a 2007 SS/3B/P from South Side Bee Branch HS in Damascus, AR, with a 6'0'', 190 lb. frame. He has a very strong, athletic build and is close to reaching physical maturity. Williams threw 82 mph during infield drills and ran the 60 in 7.44. He showed very good arm strength in the games and easy, agile actions with quick transfers and good balance. Pro scouts will most likely profile him at third base in the future but he has the skills and tools to play shortstop at the next level if he maintains his speed. Williams big tool, though, is his bat. He generates excellent raw bat speed from a wide stance with a limited stride. Williams has very good leverage and balance at contact and drives the ball hard. His swing plane is pretty level right now and most of his contact is hard line drives to the gaps. His extension and bat speed will translate into big time power in the future. You won't find too many better looking young hitters around the country than Williams. He also took the mound for a turn and showed his raw arm strength with a live 88 mph fastball and a 68 mph curveball. Williams is also an excellent student. He's a top level national follow who will get plenty of attention from the pro scouts.
