Jimmy Dowdell is a 2009 OF/2B with a 5'8'', 150 lb. frame from Palm Harbor, FL who attends Clearwater Central HS. Slender build, good frame to fill out. Has good bat speed, strong hands, solid LD contact, hits with low hands, stays short to ball, high average type. Good arm strength, profiles to 2B, has the speed/quickness. Also pitches, FB 80 mph, good mechanics. Excellent student.

Jimmy Dowdell is a 2009 OF/2B with a 5'8'', 150 lb. frame from Palm Harbor FL, who attends Clearwater Central HS. He has a small frame with some present strength for his size. Dowdell ran the 60 in 7.13 and threw 82 mph from the outfield. He showed his athletic ability well in the outfield, with good footwork and mechanics and solid arm strength. Dowdell hits from a wide base with low hands and good rhythm in his swing. He has a short, strong line drive swing with good lower half involvement and consistently hit the ball hard. He looks like he has the skills to be a high average type of hitter who can handle good pitching. Dowdell also took a turn on the mound and showed very smooth pitching mechanics and a loose, easy arm action. His fastball topped out at 80 mph and he had a nice change up as well. Dowdell is a nice young player with advanced baseball skills. He is also an outstanding student.
