Jonathan Marchia is a 2017 RHP/SS with a 5-7 145 lb. frame from Chicopee, MA who attends Chicopee Comprehensive High School. Young, athletic frame with square shoulders and a lean, projectable build with room to fill throughout. Ran a 7.53 60-yard dash. Primary righthanded pitcher, measured tempo throughout delivery, leg lift parallel to belt, does a nice job of getting tall on backside with balance, on line stride towards the plate. Full and whippy arm action through the back with quickness working to an extended three-quarters arm slot. Fastball comes out of hand well, shows running life to arm side down in the zone and topped out at 82 mph, can get in on righthanded hitter's hands. Can work to glove side with fastball and brings it back over outer half. Flashed a curveball with loose spin and 11-5 shape, short depth down in the zone. Slows arm action slightly on changeup, maintains slot and can locate in on hitters at 73 mph. Fields the ball out front in the infield, quick transfer with a long release from a low release point, short strides moving towards the ball, shows carry out of hand and balance charging in. Righthanded hitter, begins with a high hand set and an even stance in the box. Toe tap trigger at start of swing, upper body dominant swing with a lien drive swing plane coming through the zone. Contact approach in the box, shows ability to create backspin to pul side, repeats swing while showing a feel for the barrel and working all fields. Very good student.
