2016 Spring Top Prospect Showcase
Brandon Loos is a 2017 2B/RHP with a 5-10 140 lb. frame from Davenport, IA who attends West HS. Small frame with a lean build. Right handed hitter with a narrow set stance and high hand set. Launches lower half with rotational actions that create some shift to contact . Primarily uses a mid-field approach with a slightly extended swing path. Produced line drive, ground ball contact throughout batting practice with occastional pop when barrel was on time. Worked out defensively from the infield showing deliberate footwork while surrounding and funneling the baseball. Throws on a slightly uphill plane across the infield topping at 69 mph. Developing glove skills while ranging to each side, smooth glove to hand exchanges on groundball out front. Young, developing actions that should continue to improve with strength. Also pitched showing a medium arm cirlce from the well and a three quarters arm slot at release. Creates coil in lower half at gather showing back pocket. Drives to plate from a tall position while creating solid on line momentum with some downhill action. Fastball flashed slight cutting action to glove side topping at 72 mph. Flashed a soft curveball with 10/4 shape with occasional depth. Repeats mechanics well from the wind up and stretch. Was able to miss a majority of barrels, producing soft ground ball contact. Tools should continue to develop with physical maturity and fluidity. Good student as well.
