Arthur Varela is a 2018 SS/OF with a 6-0 170 lb. frame from Lake Forest, CA who attends El Toro HS. Varela has a projectable body, medium build and frame. Hits from a square stance with a medium base. Toe tap trigger to start swing, line drive swing plane with good bat speed. Stays on ball well and shows ability to hit to all fields. Defensively, primary SS, stays back and fields ball with two hands. has a low release point with good accuracy across diamond. From the OF, sure actions to ball, arm works well with a high 3/4 release point. Excellent Student.
