Collin Bettinger is a 2018 C with a 5-11 175 lb. frame from Box Elder, SD who attends Douglas HS. Medium frame with an athletic build and present strength. Right handed hitter with a straight, balanced stance and a leg kick trigger. Hands launch to contact on a inside path with a line drive swing plane. Primarily uses a mid-field approach resulting in line drive, ground ball contact. Showed balance throughout swing while at the plate in batting practice as well as game play. Worked out defensively from behind the plate showing a low, slightly open set. Gains some ground while working through transition with a two piece release. Ball comes out of hand cleanly with accurate throws to the bag with some on line carry. Tools will continue to develop with physical maturity and mechanical refinement. Good student as well.
