Jonny Lutz is a 2018 OF/1B/C with a 6-0 165 lb. frame from Carlsbad, CA who attends Carlsbad HS. Lutz has a lean build with room to fill out and add strength. Hits from an upright square stance and high back elbow. Good shift of weight into swing. Line drive swing plane with good inside hand path. Does good job staying on outer 1/2 and going with pitch. Stays balanced and gets good extension. Solid approach overall, will continue to develop and improve at plate with added strength. Defensively, primary OF, good actions to ball and works through it well. Long arm circle and action to 3/4 slot. At 1B, smooth footwork, funnels ball well with a clean transfer and release. Outstanding Student.
