Jim Martin is a 2009 RHP/IF with a 6'0'', 142 lb. frame from Fontana CA, who attends Etiwanda HS. Jim has a lean athletic build with a lot of room to fill out. On the mound Jim gets good extenstion on his pitches with a nice downhill plane. He is a high effort pitcher that lands stiff on his front leg at times and really could town down his delivery some. His change-up shows some nice sinking action and he will need to work on staying on top of a 11 to 5 curveball. At the plate Jim has an aggressive approach and uses his hands well. His swing gets long at times and he really needs to work on keeping his hands inside the ball and improving his leverage. In the field Jim has solid tools for a second baseman. He has an accurate arm with soft hands and really gets after the ball. Jim is a player that could attract the attention of some smaller colleges.
