Justin Brodt is a 2018 1B with a 6-7 230 lb. frame from Huntington Beach, CA who attends Huntington Beach HS. Large, tall frame with present strength. Right handed hitter with a spread, straight stance and high back elbow set. Creates good shift into contact with linear lower half actions. Builds torque in swing by creating some front side coil at load. Hands launch on a compact path to contact and extends through the baseball with a line drive swing plane. Handles the barrel well with plus strength and bat speed. Shows the ability to hit to all field but has plus power to the pull side gap. Worked out defensively from first base showing clean glove to hand exchanges with smooth paced footwork while surrounding. Receives the baseball well at the bag and is a large frame to throw to for infielders. Swing projects well, will continue to improve with repetition. Good student. Named to 2016 Sunshine West Top Prospect List.
