Jonathan Fretheim is a 2017 3B/C, RHP with a 6-0 165 lb. frame from Austin, TX who attends Vandegrift High School. Medium, athletic frame, square shoulders, shows present strength and has additional room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.40 60-yard dash. Primary third baseman, fields the ball out front, shows balance and athleticism moving laterally to either side, balanced while charging in, fields with a wide base, gets on top of throws well and ball comes out cleanly, shows strength across the diamond. Also pitched and graded out best on mound. Long and loose arm action coming through the back, shows quickness and creates nice extension out front. Coils at top of delivery with a back turn to the plate, lands on line and gets on top of ball well, generates plane to fastball that topped at 84 mph with occasional cut. Can miss bats up in the zone and shows ability to work either side of plate, curveball shows 11-5 shape, developing feel for the pitch. Righthanded hitter, begins with an even stance and a high hand set and back elbow in the box. Upper body dominant swing, simple load with quick hips, full swing path through the zone. Looks to create leverage at point of contact, occasionally strides to front side early at times, shows carry to pull side when on time with the barrel. Good student.
