Ivan Perez is a 2017 SS/2B with a 5-9 145 lb. frame from Vineland, NJ who attends Williamstown. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and a lean, projectable build with room to fill throughout body moving forward. Ran a 6.99 60-yard dash, speed plays well in game and down the line with solid instincts and good jumps on the bases. Primary middle infielder, shows sound actions and footwork moving to the ball with range to either side, fields the ball out front, gets on top of throws well with arm strength that will continue to develop. Short and quick steps in the outfield, works behind the ball and shows carry and accuracy to throws with some effort at release. Righthanded hitter, begins with a narrow stance and a high back elbow, uses a leg lift trigger for timing. Moving parts to load, short swing path with a sound approach at the plate. Line drive swing plane through the zone with a middle of the field approach, shows feel for the barrel with quickness to hands and ability to turn on inner half pitch. Strength will continue to improve with growth. Very good student.
