Roman Fondon is a 2008 LHP/1B with a 6'2'', 178 lb. frame from Pembroke Pines, FL who attends Flanagan HS. He has a mature build with good present strength. Fondon doesn't project much as far as stuff goes but he doesn't need to in order to be successful, as he already is one of the most successful pitchers in the 2008 class. He has three quality pitches he throws for strikes from a variety of arm angles. Fondon has an effortless delivery and is in control of his body and arm action. His fastball was 87-88 mph in Cincinnati with different types of running and sinking action. Fondon's change up is a very good pitch and he'll mix it in at all points in the count. His curveball has good velocity at 76 mph and solid spin. Fondon isn't a radar gun type of prospect but he'll win a lot of games during his baseball career.

Roman Fondon is a 2008 LHP/1B with a 6'2'', 178 lb. frame from Pembroke Pines FL, who attends Flanagan HS. He has a good athletic body with some present strength. Fondon was named to the showcase Top Prospect Team. He throws from a full windup and does a good job staying balanced and on line to the plate. He throws with good arm looseness and little effort at release. Fondon's fastball was 83-85 mph in Fort Myers with good arm side running action. His curveball was 71 mph with good spin and depth. We've seen Fondon throw a nice change up in the past but he didn't put that pitch on display at this event. He threw both his fastball and curveball for strikes and has very good pitchability for his age, especially when he's throwing his change up. Fondon's velocity has been consistent over the last year and a half but he's loose and strong and he should be able to bump his velocity up into the upper 80's as he matures. He is also a good student.

Roman Fondon is a 2008 LHP/1B from Flanagan High School in Pembroke Pines, FL, with a 6'2'', 190 lb. frame. Was named to the Top Prospect Team at the event. Fondon is a tall and lean lefty with a loose and easy arm action on the mound. He throws from a 3/4 arm slot with good arm speed, and has fluid mechanics. He stays tall and throws downhill with his fastball that topped out at 84 mph with good running action. Fondon also throws a curveball at 66 mph with good break and depth, and a 71 mph change up that he maintains his arm speed with. He has good touch and feel with his pitches showing pitchability for a young pitcher. We project that he will throw much harder in the future making him a must follow on the mound. Fondon is a right handed hitter with good bat speed and projectable power. He stays balanced through his swing and makes consistent contact. Fondon is also a good student.
