2015 West Coast Underclass Showcase
Payton Walsh is a 2018 OF/C with a 5-7 158 lb. frame from Foothill Ranch, CA who attends Servite HS. Young, athletic frame with a lean and projectable build with room to fill out throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.12 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder, moves well to the ball, fields it out front well, full arm action and gets on top of throws, shortens at release, showed accuracy at release and strength and carry will develop with continued incorporation of lower half into release. Left-handed hitter, starts with a wide base and a medium hand set in the box. Shows a short bat path to the ball and utilizes a pull side approach. Line drive swing plane with occasional lift, shows a feel for the barrel and creates line drive contact to pull side. Gets rotational at times looking to pull, shows nice carry when squared off the barrel, projects well with continued physical growth. Very good student.
