David Heller is a 2017 SS/RHP, 1B, OF with a 6-4 170 lb. frame from Port Jeff Station, NY who attends Comsewogue High School. Very long, lean and projectable build with an athletic frame that can handle additional strength. Posted a 7.15 time in the 60 yard dash. Primary shortstop, threw from a lower slot and got to every ball with developing arm strength. At the plate, started with an open stance and an active hand set with a toe tap timing mechanism. Rotational swing at present with developing bat speed and inconsistent timing. Lower half incorporation and improved timing would lead to better contact. Also pitched, threw from a mid three quarter arm slot with a quick, full arm action and an upbeat delivery. Fastball worked 75-76 mph with late sinking action for strikes. Lower half incorporation would lead to a tick up in velocity. Also mixed in a curveball up to 62 mph with developing feel for the pitch. Very good student.
