Joseph Sapiro is a 2018 C with a 5-9 180 lb. frame from Orlando, FL who attends The First Academy. Medium frame with strong, sturdy build. Good strength throughout trunk into lower half. Ran 60 yard dash in 8.06 seconds. Sets up to hit square to the plate with very good balance, approach is geared almost completely for contact to all fields. Minimal stride and weight shift, takes hands to ball via inside path, most contact to the opposite field. Line drive swing plane and approach. Worked out defensively behind the plate at the catcher position. Receives well with solid hands, shows beginnings of fundamental footwork into catch-and-throw mechanics. Transfers cleanly and exchanges relatively well, low elbow arm action on throws down to second base. Pretty accurate consistently, popped as low as 2.52 seconds and threw 60 MPH. Good student.
