Bobby Jones is a 2007 OF/P with a 6'2'', 190 lb. frame from Sarasota FL, who attends Riverview HS. He has a strong athletic build that can add even more strength. Jones ran the 60 in 7.29 and threw 79 mph during outfield drills. His outfield arm strength could improve if he closed off his body instead of throwing open. He moves to the ball well in the outfield. Offensively, Jones has a calm start to his swing but tends to drift out to balls and reach. He uses his strength and leverage well to generate bat speed. Jones has a level, line drive swing and stays on the ball a long time. The result was very solid contact to all fields both in BP and in the games. The ball comes off Jones bat hard and he shows gap to gap power now that could grow in the future. Jones' power will come when he learns to stay back on the ball. He has good hitting tools overall with a few adjustments and with his projectable strength could really develop offensively. Good follow. Jones is also a good student.
