Rhett Smith is a 2006 MIF with a 5'11'', 160 lb. frame from Waynesboro, Georgia, who attends Burice County High School. He has a solid frame with an athletic look. Defensively he stays low when he is fielding in the middle of the diamond showing nice footwork. He gets in position to make all of the plays, and has good range, especially to his glove side. Smith has soft hands and the ball tends to disappear in his glove. He showed a nice backhands as well, and has good body control on slow rollers. Smith is a nice defensive infielder. At the plate he is a left handed hitter with a line drive swing plane. He has solid bat speed through the hitting zone, and stays inside the ball well. Smith makes consistent contact with nice bat control that will allow him to hit at the top of the batting lineup. He is a contact hitter that doesn't try to do too much. Smith is also a good student.
