Joey Hofland is a 5-11, 135 lb senior outfielder from Minnesota who also pitches. He has a very slender, young build and looks like he's a couple of years younger than he actually is. He ran the 60 in 7.78 sec. Hofland hits from an open stance with very high hands. He never closes out his hips and pulls off pitches with his front side severely when he starts his swing. Hofland's approach when he's pitching is very similar. He pitches with a very open front side and then falls off hard to the first base side on release. His fastball was 73-76 mph from a mid 3/4's release point. We didn't see any off speed pitches. Hofland will need to do two things to improve his baseball skills. First, find a way to stay on line with the ball both as a hitter and as a pitcher. Second, work on adding strength to his frame. Hofland is a solid student off the field.
