Ty Knowler is a 2008 MIF/RHP with a 6'0'', 160 lb. frame from Alttona IA, who attends Southeast Polk HS. He has a medium build with some wiry strength. Knowler looked nervous in infield drills and didn't show his true abilities. He fielded well in games and showed much better game arm strength than he showed in drills. He moves to the ball smoothly and has good feet and quickness. Offensively, Knowler hits from a spread stance with an early preload. He tends to jump out very early with his lower half and is often off balance and reaching for balls. When he stayed back, Knowler showed good hands for hitting and made solid contact to the middle of the field. He has the tools to be a good hitter but his current approach doesn't help him. Knowler also pitched and threw 71-74 mph with a 58 mph curveball. He is a very good student.
