Matthew Whitney is a 2018 LHP with a 6-4 220 lb. frame from Plantation, FL who attends American Heritage HS. Big and strong physical build, especially in the lower half. High 3/4's arm slot, short stride out front, creates downhill angle on his pitches. Mid-80's fastball topped out at 86 mph, mostly straight, throws his fastball to both sides of the plate and keeps it down in the zone well. Big breaking curveball with 1/7 shape, lands his curveball for low strikes consistently. Developing change up. Strike throwing lefty with the ability to pitch. Good student, verbal commitment to Florida International.
