Tyler Osterman is a 2018 C/RHP, MIF, OF with a 5-10 175 lb. frame from Sebastian, FL who attends Sebastian River. Medium frame, stocky, mature build with strong lower half. Primary catcher, looks the part behind the plate. Quick transfer, receives ball well, popped a 2.13 in defensive drills. Also plays outfield and infield, shows developing arm strength, hitting up to 77 mph from both positions. Right handed hitter, narrow stance with hands away from body. Toe-tap timing mechanism, longer path to ball, fluid swing, flashes ability to get extended. Shows some strength off of the barrel when squared, has ability to work to the opposite field. Should continue to improve with additional upper-body strength and experience. Also pitches, drop and drive delivery with up-tempo pace. Compact-arm action, works to a tight high 3/4's release. Fastball up to 74 mph, can throw for strikes. Shows feel for changeup with deception, solid armspeed, should use pitch more often. Also flashes curveball with 12/6 shape and occasional knuckleball. Good student.
