Hunter Montgomery is a 2007 RHP/OF with a 5'11'', 140 lb. frame from Roswell GA, who attends Greater Atlanta Christian HS. He has a young body and lean frame. Montgomery throws from a high 3/4's release with a multi-part arm action. He pitches mostly with a 2-seam and 4-seam fastball and does a very nice job of mixing up speed, location and movement on the pitch. Montgomery's fastball varies between 68 and 75 mph and at times he will cut it, sink it or run it. He threw a couple of 67 mph pitches that looked like sliders but that may have just been fastballs that he was cutting and that got big on him. Montgomery threw strikes and got hitters to swing at the pitches he wanted to throw. Montgomery showed some athleticism in the outfield, with a quick release on his throws and good actions to the ball. He's a 7.23 runner in the 60. Montgomery has a rotational line drive swing that will improve with more physical strength. He is an outstanding student.

Hunter Montgomery is a 2007 RHP/OF with a 5'11'', 140 lb. frame from Roswell GA, who attends Greater Atlanta Christian HS. He has a lean build on a medium frame. Montgomery has a loose, easy arm action and little effort in his delivery. He was able to spot his pitches with consistency and work ahead in counts. Montgomery's fastball topped out at 77 mph. We listed a breaking ball at 74 mph as a slider but this was probably some sort of cut fastball that he threw with a different grip. Montgomery listed one of his strengths as "changing speeds" but we didn't see a curveball or change up during his outing. Montgomery also showed some athletic ability as an outfielder. He ran the 60 in 6.99 and showed nice actions in the outfield along with 75 mph arm strength. Improved strength will help him both with the bat and in potentially increasing his pitching velocity. Montgomery is also an outstanding student.
