Landon Schirer is a 2017 RHP/1B with a 6-5 235 lb. frame from La Mesa, CA who attends Steele Canyon. Extra large frame, very wide shoulders with long legs, strong mature build. Leg lift above the belt with big hip turn in delivery, rotates back on line and has solid direction to the plate. Slight closed landing, works to a high 3/4's arm slot with a long, fluid arm swing. Solid extension over frontside, repeats mechanics pretty well for size. Fastball up to 86 mph, shows occasional cutting action, has ability to locate the pitch to both sides of the plate. Also has feel for sweeping breaking ball, flashes true slider tilt and comes out of same plane as the fastball, shows potential to be an out pitch at next level. Works in an occasional changeup, shows developing feel for the offering, maintains armspeed and arm-action. Good student. Named to Showcase Top Prospect List.
