Ali LaPread is a 2018 SS/OF with a 6-1 185 lb. frame from Peachtree Corners, GA who attends Norcross High School. Large, athletic frame with square shoulders and a projectable build with room to fill throughout, has present strength to frame. Ran a 6.99 60-yard dash. Primary middle infielder, shows soft hands out front at the ball, quick and clean exchange out of the glove, sound actions with balance to footwork, nice arm strength and carry across the diamond on throws. Tight release on throws from the outfield, sound first step and routes to the baseball, smooth actions and shows a quick release with on line accuracy. Righthanded hitter, begins with a wide base and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate; does a nice job of getting closed with leg lift trigger at start of swing. Stays short to the ball with swing path and generates solid bat speed through the zone, nice rhythm throughout swing. Comes off the barrel well and shows backspin off the bat, works the pull side and shows looseness to swing with jump off the barrel. Named to Fall National Showcase Top Prospect List. Very good student.
