Brett Entz is a 2007 shortstop from Richmond, Virginia, with a 5'11", 160 lb. frame who posted a 5.20 forty time. Brett has an athletic body that should continue to develop and add strength. Defensively he showed very good footwork getting in position on ground balls, and is athletic in his actions and through his release. He shows arm strength (73 mph) for his age, and has good actions on the double play turn. Brett has a body that is just starting to turn the corner and help him. He is a switch hitter who might be slightly better from the right side. From the right side he has a wide base stance and good bat speed with excellent balance in his swing and strong hands. Brett uses a no load approach and a rotational swing with a lower half that is late on some swings. From the left side he shows good balance and more reach in his swing. From the left side he is more of a line drive hitter who will use the opposite field. He shows good bat speed from both sides and should be able to hit at the next level from both sides. Brett looks like he is just starting to put things together, and should really make big strides in the near future.
