Esteban Santa Cruz is a 2016 C/UT with a 5-8 145 lb. frame from Oxnard, CA who attends Oxnard. Cruz has a medium sized frame with a compact build. Defensively he has a spread low set up behind the plate with athletic catch and throw actions. Cruz has looseness in his body and has good arm strength with velocity up to 80 MPH. He has solid receiving skills with good catching tools overall. At the plate, Cruz starts with a slightly closed stance with a high hand set. He uses a foot lift trigger and moves in to the plate. Cruz takes a hack and has a wristy swing. He has some bat speed and showed some hitting tools Very good student.
