Sam Powers is a 2016 1B/OF with a 6-1 180 lb. frame from Las Vegas, NV who attends Palo Verde HS. Large, extremely well-built frame with excellent combination of strength and athleticism throughout. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.02 seconds. Swings with intent when hitting, looks to do damage throughout. Does good job showing strength and hard contact to all fields. Opposite-field orientated approach, but does show ability to get the head out and pull the ball with authority. Clean swing path, ball jumps off the barrel well when squared. Extremely athletic for the 1st base position, moves well and fields cleanly, pivots well with balance and athleticism to make consistently firm, accurate throws. 1B velocity clocked up to 78 MPH on throws to 2B and 3B. Very good student.
