Tyler Smith is a 2017 OF/LHP with a 5-8 135 lb. frame from Los Angeles, CA who attends Gardena HS. Smith has a slender frame with a lean build. Defensively he showed developing footwork to the baseball with short choppy steps attacking the baseball. Smith has a long arm action with developing arm strength up to 69 MPH. He throws uphill and he showed developing actions in the outfield. At the plate Smith starts with an open stance with a quiet approach. He uses a no load approach and has a rotational swing. He made contact on the ground to the pull side in BP with developing bat speed. There's more in there with improved rhythm and timing to his swing. He pitched from an over top arm slot with developing feel for his release point.
