Charles Rowell is a 2017 C/3B/OF with a 6-0 190 lb. frame from Magnolia, TX who attends Magnolia West HS. Medium, athletic frame with broad shoulders and nice present strength proportioned throughout, particularly in upper body. Ran a 7.72 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, graded out higher from outfield and infield. Behind the plate shows a very compact and tight release, receives the ball out front, clean transfer, remains tall at release, projects with additional lower half and refined footwork. Moves well in the infielder, shows balance ranging and field the ball out front, can throw from multiple arm slots, some effort at release but accurate throws. Similar tight release from the outfield, works from a high slot and gets on top of throws which helps to generate nice carry to the intended bag. Righthanded hitter, begins with a square stance and has a high knee lift/leg trigger at start of swing. Shifts weight throughout upper body with a simple load, hands get deep but has the strength and barrel quickness to be on time. Full swing path through the zone, shows nice tools with the bat and able to impact the baseball to the pull side when on time with barrel and weight shift, comes off well to the middle and pull side parts. Named to South Uncommitted Top Prospect List. Good student.
