Matthew Clement is a 2009 RHP/OF with a 5'9'', 150 lb. frame from Vero Beach, FL who attends Vero Beach HS. He has a small, lean frame and a young look to him. Clement has very good arm strength for his size and is a good athlete. He throws from a compact, balanced delivery with good acceleration to the plate. Clements release point is high 3/4's to overhand and he has a very good downhill angle to the plate for a shorter pitcher. His fastball topped out at 84 mph and he had his best stuff in his third inning of work. Clement pitched aggressively inside with his fastball and knows how to pitch. His change up is his best off speed pitch, with good run and bore at the plate. His curveball flashes good spin but he tends to cast it up there with a hump in it. Clement was a very good defensive outfielder with a big arm and very good fielding fundamentals. He brought the same athleticism to the plate and swung the bat well and made solid contact. This is just a solid overall talent who should keep getting better. Clement is also a good student.
