Austin Smith is a 2017 LHP/1B with a 5-9 135 lb. frame from Brazoria, TX who attends Sweeny HS. Very slender young build. Athletic delivery with solid overall mechanics, stays over the rubber well, medium pace, bit cross body on release, 3/4's to mid-3/4's arm slot, full arm circle, loses release point at times but makes adjustments well. Mid-70's fastball, topped out at 76 mph, lots of fastball life, cuts glove side with good run and sink arm side. Big sweeping soft curveball, rare change up. Young and projects well. Left handed hitter, closed front side, short wristy swing from a low hand start, spray contact. Good student.
