Jon Fortner is a 2017 RHP/1B with a 6-3 185 lb. frame from Portland, OR who attends Lincoln HS. Long, athletic frame with lean build and excellent overall physical projection. Primary pitcher, shows longer and extended arm action up to medium three quarters slot, mild effort in delivery, very good arm speed with projection for increased velocity in the future. Online delivery with excellent deception; hides the ball very well. Fastball worked 79-83 topping at 84 with good arm side run. Extension generated allows ball to jump at hitters. Good feel for the slider in the mid 70's, sharp break with swing-and-miss potential. Showed a changeup in the low 70's but scrapped it early on. Projects best as a pitcher moving forward in his development. Took reps at 1st base, shows clean fielding actions with accuracy to both 2B and 3B; velocity up to 79 MPH. Named to 2015 Northwest Showcase Top Prospect List. Very good student.
