Jeff Thoben is a 2017 1B/ with a 6-2 195 lb. frame from Camarillo, CA who attends Adolfo Camarillo HS. Large frame with a strong, athletic build. Right handed hitter with a spread, open stance. Front side creates slight coil at load. Lower half launches to contact creating good shift. Gets through extension with an line drive swing plane that creates leverage. Present bat speed and swings with intent to drive the baseball into the gaps. Shows best barrel and pop when staying compact at contact to the middle of the field. Worked out defensively from first base showing smooth fundamental footwork while surrounding the baseball and pivoting into double plays. Developing glove actions while ranging to both sides. Throws across the infield from a three-quarters arm slot that produces accurate carry to the bag. Good student as well.
