Jay Rich is a 2007 OF from Hillcrest High School in Simpsonville, SC, with a 6'1'', 190 lb. frame. Rich was named to the Top Prospect Team at the event. Defensively he has very good arm strength with good online carry. He has smooth actions in the outfield with a good release, and he is very quick to the ball and he gets in position well. At the plate he is a right handed hitter who hits from a wide base with a slightly open stance. Generates good bat speed through the zone and the ball jumps off his bat. He extends through the ball and stays balanced through his swing, and gets leverage at the point of contact. Rich will hit with power and should be a run producer at the next level. He is a player with good upside that needs to be followed. He is also a good student.
