Clay Malcolm is a 2007 LHP/1B with a 6'3'', 188 lb. frame from Marietta GA, who attends Kennesaw Mountain HS. He has a plus athletic body with good overall strength. Malcolm has a balanced delivery with a high leg kick to start things off and a compact arm action. He'll throw from two different release points, one from high 3/4's with good downward plane on his pitches and the other from a lower drop down type of angle. Malcolm's fastball was steady at 78-79 mph and would either cut or run according to his grip and release. His 70 mph curveball was sharp and deep when he threw it from on top but was more of a sweeper down lower. We didn't see a change up. Malcolm looks like he has more velocity in his arm waiting to come out. He is an excellent student.
