Brian Cooper is a 2017 LHP/1B with a 6-1 168 lb. frame from Bridgewater, NJ who attends Bridgewater-Raritin High School. Large, athletic frame with a lean, projectable build and has plenty of room to add additional strength moving forward. Ran a 7.22 60-yard dash. Primary lefthanded pitcher, able to create some deception in delivery, lands closed with front foot and creates angle at release from three-quarters arm slot. Works on top of the ball well, topped out at 78 mph with fastball with short running life, has effort at release but fills up strike zone and induced ground ball contact. Threw both a slider and curveball for strikes, curveball featured 1-7 shape with depth at 63 mph. Righthanded hitter, begins with a wide base and a high back elbow in the box. Uses a small leg lift trigger, has a short swing path with line drive plane through the zone. Occasionally gets to front side early but able to create contact to all fields, tracks the ball well through zone. Good student.
