Tate Holmes is a 2016 1B/RHP, OF with a 6-0 170 lb. frame from Lee'S Summit, MO who attends Blue Springs South. Medium athletic build, frame projects for added strength. Right handed hitter with an onpen stance and leg raise trigger at the plate. Shows a mid-field approach with a level swing plane the produces line drive/ groundball contact. Generates primary bat speed with the hands. Good balance throughout swing. Best contact/ power combo came when barrel was extended through contact. Comes from a 3/4 with easy arm action on the mound. Fastball shows good arm side run ranging from 76-78mph. Drop and drive mechanics and generates good direction with downhill angle on delivery. Curveball has 10/5 shape with good depth, topped at 68 mph. Flahsed a changeup with some sinking arm side action, topped at 72 mph. Matches arm speeds well on offspeed delivery. Tends to run fastball back over the middle when working to glove hand side. Also worked at 1B. Solid funneling glove actions and footwork. Shows some range to both sides. Footwork is a heavy at times around the bag while setting up to receive. Topped at 78mph across the infield. Good student as well.
