Brandon Fragoso is a 2017 OF/RHP/1B with a 6-2 180 lb. frame from San Diego, CA who attends Kearny HS. Large frame, athletic build with some present strength. Projects for additional size with strength. Right handed hitter with a straight, balanced stance and high back elbow set. Lower half launches with rotational action and some shift into contact. Swings with intent to drive the baseball through the gaps. Generates solid bat speed with a natrually lofted swing path when on time, flashed the ability to turn barrel head to pull side producing loud contact. Worked out defensively from the outfeild and first base. From the outfield shows a compact arm cirlce back at separation and long arm action through extension. Shows good athletic balance through gather and transition. Throws had some downhill angle with carry and developing accuracy to the bag. From first base showing two hand pick ups into an extended, over top arm action. Flashed athletic actions while ranging to both side and slow roller. Fundamental footwork while working off the bag and setting up to receive throws. Also pitched using a simple leg lift delivery. Creates a deep arm hook at separation and release from a high three-quarters arm slot. Good arm whip with plus downhill plane on a fastball that showed arm side life in the upper 70's to low 80's, topped at 83 mph. Fastball seems to jump on hitters inducing many swings and misses. Curveball has 11/5 shape with softer spin and depth. Tends to slow arm action slightly with curveball offering. Athletic two way prospect that will continue to develop with repetitions. Good student as well.
