George Fernandez is a 2016 C/3B with a 5-11 208 lb. frame from Miami, FL who attends Immaculata-La Salle. Thick strong build, prototypical catcher's build. Looks the part behind the plate, has impressive armspeed and arm strength, registering as high as 83 mph from behind the dish and clocking in pop times as low as 1.94 seconds in defensive drills. Measured footwork, gains ground and has good direction to bases, throws on line. Right handed hitter, high back elbow and high hands set. Toe-tap timing mechanism, generally shows solid transfer and shift, can dip backside at times. Big strength, aggressive approach, doesn't get cheated, hit one of the only home runs of the event in batting practice. Named to the Showcase Top Prospect Team.
