Carmen Angelini is a 2007 right hand hitting shortstop from Barbe HS, residing in Lake Charles, LA. He has a a 6'1" 175 lb. frame and a still developing body, not even close to being physically mature, despite what his physical listing is. Angelini is a polished player and ranked #30 among PG National Top 100 position players, though no one would complain if he were ranked higher. With Angelini, he simply plays easy, all over the diamond. There really is nothing that is difficult for him and yet, he is still developing as a total package. His level of current ability, combined with his physical projectability suggests that he has nearly as high of a ceiling as any middle infielder in the '07 class. Angelini hits from a slightly open stance and has a very quiet approach. His trigger is quick and easy, getting his plus hands to the ball quite easily. With little effort his bat flies through the zone and he stays on plane through contact quite nicely. His feel for hitting, as it is with fielding, is a plus attribute. Angelini sprays the ball to all fields with good present day power and above average future power potential. In the field he is a slick fielder without being flashy. His hands are a plus and he has a quick release. His feel is exceptional as Angelini has that baseball clock possessed by the top players in the game. He is an average in game runner and slightly better than that when using his 60 time of 6.74 as the measure. Carmen Angelini is a big time player who could climb into the very upper rounds of the 2007 draft and is a must get for all top D1 programs.
