John Carmody is a 2016 1B/ with a 6-2 215 lb. frame from Orland Park, IL who attends Marist. Large frame with plus present strength. Slightly open stance with a smooth lofted swing plane. Showed nice balance throughout swing with aggresive lower half drive. Consistenly hit the ball hard during BP. Strong, pullside swing path that consistenly barreled balls into gap. Very good bat speed. Projects to have legitimate homerun power in the future. Big target at first base. Short arm action and quick release with accuray throwing across and turning double plays. Topped at 79 mph across infield. Slower footwork around bag, but is fundamentally sound with positioning. Also pitched showing a high 3/4 arm slot with long arm aciton. Fluid arm and was around the stirke zone often. Uses lower half well to drive downhill. Fastball shows some tailing life to arm side ranging from 72-76 mph, topping at 76 mph. Showed a curveball that topped at 62 mph. Primarly used to set up fastball. Good student as well.
