Matt McLain is a 2018 SS/2B, OF with a 5-10 175 lb. frame from Tustin, CA who attends Arnold O. Beckman HS. Medium build with some wiry strength and plenty of quick twitch actions. 6.71 runner, speed plays up in the game due to his energy level. Played both infield and outfield, shows big arm strength at both positions. Very quick hands in the infield, with clean actions at the ball, light on his feet, plays fast. Right handed hitter, rotational swing with an occasionally early front side, swings hard and looks to drive the ball, hits the ball out front, quick hands with some strength at contact, gets the ball in the air and can drive the gaps, projects as a hitter with more strength. Interesting quick twitch athlete who plays hard and is versatile on the field. Good student, verbal commitment to UCLA.
