2015 West Coast Top Prospect Showcase
Charles Wear is a 2016 OF/RHP with a 6-2 190 lb. frame from Loma Linda, CA who attends Redlands East Valley HS. Large, athletic frame with long limbs, broad shoulders, and present strength throughout build. Ran a 6.82 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder, shows a short and quick arm action through the back and gets on top of throws with present arm strength, comes out clean, shows footwork through the ball and repeats actions well. Also pitched, starts on the first base side of rubber, shows arm speed coming through the back to three-quarter release. Topped out at 81 mph with occasional cutting life and shows running life when located to glove side. Tough pitch to square up, shortens arm action on curveball but features solid depth and rotation. Fills up zone and induces weak contact. Right-handed hitter, starts with a wide base and high hands. Full swing with a short path to the ball, generates bat speed through the zone and shows a contact approach. Occasionally get to front side early but creates line drive contact and consistent feel for the middle of the field. Named to West Coast Top Prospect List. Good student.
