Tom Luciano is a 2007 right hand hitting outfielder from Fox Lane HS, residing in Pound Ridge, NY. Luciano has a lean and athletic build on his 6'0" 180 lb. frame that sill continue to fill out and gain strength. He is the type of young player that looks to have a chance to keep getting better and better. There were times at PG National when he flashed the ability that will draw a lot of interest in the future. Luciano hits from a crouched, square stance. He is a very good runner so that stance seemed a bit different for someone with his wheels. Luciano's swing plane is a flat, line drive type swing. His bat speed is good and though he had that odd set-up, Luciano did get out of the box well and puts some pressure on the defense to make clean plays or he will reach base. Luciano had a pull side approach that may need to be adjusted to maximize what he can bring as an offensive player, which is to be a line drive and gap hitter with speed to leg out infield singles, doubles and triples. In the outfield Luciano's athleticism serves him well. He covers a lot of ground with graceful strides and looked comfortable out there. He showed a nice release of the ball and has a solid average arm that plays well for centerfield. He ran 4.26 home/1st and posted a laser timed 6.71 60 yard dash. Luciano is a quality D1 prospect and has a set of tools that have a chance to allow him to continue to develop into a professional prospect. He should get some area scout attention this spring, but is likely college bound.

Tom Luciano is a 2007 OF with a 6'0'', 180 lb. frame from Pound Ridge NY, who attends Fox Lane. Luciano has a medium sized frame with a thin athletic build. Defensively, Luciano can really run in the outfield and covers lots of ground. He has athletic actions and moves very well to the ball. Luciano has an easy effortless arm action with carry on his throws. Luciano starts with a wide base at the plate with a low hand set. He starts his swing with a short stride and uses a no load approach. Luciano has good bat speed and he keeps his swing path on a good line drive plane. He has present gap to gap pop and will hit for more power as he matures. Luciano has a very good tool set that will help him become a complete player. Luciano projects to be a top of the order table setter at the next level. Luciano is also an outstanding student.
