Matt Lopes is a 2018 SS/RHP, 3B, OF with a 6-2 155 lb. frame from Jupiter, FL who attends The Benjamin School. The utility player has a tall and slender frame that has room to fill and projects to add strength. On the mound he displays an online delivery, utilizes his lower half well, good follow through and finishes in a good fielding position. Fastball at 80mph has riding life, arm side run and sink, and commanded it best to glove side. Ability to command a 10/4 slider for strikes in any count with sweeping break at 65 mph. Good feel and arm speed for straight change up at 71mph. On the infield he has a good first step, gets to good fielding position, works through the ball with glove tap and throws accurately to the bag. At the plate he has a wide and open stance with the hands set high above the shoulder. Leg lift starts the swing and is timing mechanism put him good hitting position to spray the ball to all fields. Great student.
