Jewell is a well built 6-2, 190 lb catcher/third baseman from Kentucky. He ran the 60 in 7.23 on the slow track and threw 82 mph from the infield and 78 mph from behind the plate with a best workout pop time of 1.95. Jewell showed us college level defensive skills at both positions. He has good range at third base, a deliberate, controlled release and plenty of arm strength. His catching skills are sound as well. Offensively, Jewell hits out of a spread, no load stance with good balance in his swing. It looks like Jewell is focused on pitches on the inside half and showed the ability to turn on the ball in BP and in games and drive it well. Overall, Jewell is a well rounded athlete with versatility and good baseball skills. He could be a very good player at the next level.
