Augustin Leblanc is a 2007 C/3B with a 5'9'', 190 lb. frame from Humble TX, who attends Nimitz HS. He has a short and thick body with some present strength. Leblanc has done some good work it looks like getting slimmer and a bit quicker since we saw him last summer. Leblanc has sound catching mechanics behind the plate and has a very consistent release on his throws and makes very accurate throws. He showed the balance and athletic ability to make off balance throws and handle pitches away from him. His arm strength is solid. He threw 75 mph during drills with a best pop time of 2.03. Offensively, Leblanc has a long fluid swing with some bat speed. He has nice extension out front with a high finish and one can see where he would have some power against mid-level high school pitching. His best contact is when he pulls the ball. Leblanc is a hard worker and is improving. He is also a good student.

Leblanc is a 5-7, 190 lb junior catcher from Houston with a short, squat body that needs some conditioning before it gets out of control. Leblanc does show good quickness behind the plate although he isn't a good straight ahead runner. He threw 73 mph in infield drills and had a best pop time of 2.06. Leblanc has a very accurate arm and threw out a couple of runners with perfect tag throws on the bag. What impressed us the most about Leblanc was his hitting ability in the games. During batting practice Leblanc showed a smooth, easy swing but not much bat speed. Against live pitching he turned up the volume and turned on the ball and hit it hard. He showed some pull power on a couple balls, one of them a ringing double into the left field corner. He has an aggressive swing and looks like he can handle the bat head. Overall, Leblanc has a lot of good baseball skills, especially the important ones for his position. He's going to improve when he gets serious about his conditioning. Good follow
