David Shambley is a 2007 C/3B/1B from Green Hope HS in Cary, NC with a 5'11", 190 lb. frame. David has a strong build and was one of the better players at the showcase. At the plate David really impressed during the showcase. He has a short swing with good bat speed that he repeats very well. David produces consistent line-drive contact and has very good gap to gap power. He took one of the top batting practices at the showcase. Behind the plate David has a short arm circle with good footwork and a nice release. David is a solid student and should attract the attention of many mid to high-level Division I Schools.

David is 5'11-185 C/RHP from Cary, North Carolina. David has a well developed lower half, and a physically advanced build for his age. David was a local product from nearby Cary, NC. We liked David alot. A catcher who showed big time power at the plate and should continue to develop. Strong hands and can swing wood and turn on the ball. Game time hitter with many hits in the games. Strong behind the plate with college level arm strength and posted 2.03 on the bag pop times in the game, also a 1.67 pop to third base to nail a runner. David has a whippy arm and does push under the ball some. When he learns to stay on top of the ball he will improve his pop times. You will be hearing more from David. Had clean and quick 1.93-2.00 pop time on all workout throws with 75 maximum velocity on throws. He swings the bat well and look for power to be a big tool in the future. He is late with his hip rotation with good blance. There is more power here and he should develop into a big power guy. David has strong athletic actions and was named to Top Prospect game. On the mound David throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with average hs arm speed. Showed 78-80 mph with slight tail and above average command on his fastball. His change up was 70-71 mph but was rarely used. Mechanically David has a very strong upper half in delivery, and threw with a short compact motion. David at this point still appears to be raw from a pitching standpoint and will need to develop his offspeed pitches to maximize his potential. He has the natural ability to become a prospect for the next level.
